National starting point

Federal solar and battery support available across Australia

Small-scale Technology Certificates

Eligible rooftop solar systems may create STCs under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. The arrangement is usually reflected in the quote when you assign the right to create certificates.

Cheaper Home Batteries Program

The federal program supports eligible small-scale batteries through the SRES. Check current capacity, product, installer and program requirements before you commit.

Local and regional support

States, territories, councils and retailers can offer different assistance. It may be a rebate, loan, tariff, advice service or targeted program rather than the same type of support everywhere.

Questions and answers

Victoria solar and battery support FAQs

Does every Victoria property receive the same support?

No. The available support can depend on the program, property, household or business type, system design, location, product and installation requirements. Confirm current terms before signing a contract.

Is a state scheme the same as federal STCs?

No. Federal STCs are part of the SRES. A state or territory offer may be a separate rebate, loan, Virtual Power Plant incentive, tariff or targeted support program with different rules.

Who confirms my final eligibility?

The relevant program administrator and an appropriately accredited installer can explain the current requirements, proposed system and final quote. Solar Alliance does not approve claims.
